Tucked within an industrial suburb of Bangalore, Sunrise is a quiet transformation of an existing building into a multi-level garden restaurant, where each floor tells a different story. Designed for a family-run venture, the project embraces modest materials, abundant greenery, and the spirit of adaptive reuse.
The layout flows from an open-plan dining space to a garden courtyard, then rises through layered volumes that transition from earthy and casual to luxe and moody. Every level is defined by a distinct material palette and mood — from the lush, sun-drenched garden court to a blue retro bar, to peach-toned lounges with sculpted ceilings and soft lighting.
Hanging plants spill from double-height ceilings, brick floors ground the green lounges, and muted aluminium panels reflect both light and memory. Nearly all the furniture was custom-designed and handmade on site, fostering a deep connection with local craftspeople.
Sunrise blurs the boundary between indoor and outdoor, built and wild — creating not just a restaurant but an evolving atmosphere. At its core, it celebrates slowness, surprise, and the garden as a site of collective pleasure.
